About Us

The Dibden Open Golf Society was founded in November 2014. The D.O.G.S (nothing to do with the kennels on the third!) have become very popular and currently boast an agreed membership of sixty golfers. An annual token membership fee of £10 is used to subsidise various events and costs throughout the year. Guest golfers are welcomed. The D.O.G.S are an egalitarian society enjoying an excellent social mix of members enjoying golf, having fun and meeting together as friends. There are no committees or hierarchies of officers and no Captain. The running of the society is effectively and efficiently conducted by willing and committed volunteers.  Dave Lowman and Colin Peall provide the bulk of the day to day management and organisation ably supported and helped by a variety of other members. 11th Hole Green to Tee

Competitions and events
The D.O.G.S meet on Tuesday mornings having tee times pre-booked at Dibden Golf Centre.  Availability sign up sheets and tee time start sheets are posted, a week in advance, on the noticeboard in the Clubhouse locker room. The entry fee is £3 and a variety of events and golfing formats are arranged and posted on the annual calendar. There are cash prizes for the winners as well as place prizes and bottles of wine for Nearest the Pins (currently 3 holes) and a 2’s competition to share the pot if a golfer holes out in two shots on any hole.  A penalty of 50p is incurred for every ball a competitor loses during a round which finances the cost of the wine prizes. The Society awards and adjusts players handicaps each week. (The policy and procedure is posted in the ‘members’ section of the web site.)

Away Days
Each month golfing away day events are arranged at nearby courses and the D.O.G.S enjoy very competitive rates for the day. The change of venue and inclusive packages negotiated make for excellent days out.

A variety of Society functions are arranged throughout the year. Midsummer Madness followed by breakfast (6.30 am shotgun start). Christmas Lunch and Prizegiving as well as Singles and Doubles Knockout competitions.
